Embarked easily with no fuss at Civitavecchia where we had spent a night at the Hotel De La Ville.
I had an EU passport but because my wife has an Australian one this is retained at Embarkation and returned to you later in the cruise.
The whole boarding only took 30 minutes as we only had carry on baggage which we found our two small cases @ 10kg each were ample for the cruise.
